So for Jon's birthday, a co-worker from the cabinet shop surprised him with a small cake at work (I thought that was sweet), then after he came home we headed up to Lawrence to party. We got rootbeer floats, he went shopping with his birthday money for movies, clothes, and tools, and then we ate Mongolian BBQ for dinner. After we came home we lit the cake with Taylor, then put him to bed and stayed up late watching one of Jon's new movies and eating cake. Fun times.

Much excitement :)
Taylor's been practicing how ride his bike all week. His legs don't quite reach the pedals yet, but he gets around by pushing with his feet (Flintstone style!). We're still working on how to get off the bike without losing balance and landing on his back. Falling off frustrates him to no end, but I have to admit that it's so funny to watch. :) Below, he is mounting his bike backwards:
Clapping for himself (he's always proud of getting around on the bike):
Jon's birthday was on Monday! We've had a busy week, and a busy weekend, so it was fun to unwind and do relaxing things for his birthday. On Friday night all of the staff here at AGBC ate a big dinner together so I made a bunch of cupcakes, complete with fancy hand-tipped decorating, soccer-themed wrappers, and curly birthday candles. Of course I forgot to take a picture. :) By the time Monday came around I was so tired from busyness that I couldn't bring myself to hand-tip Jon's entire birthday cake. So I decorated with candles instead. :) It looked really cool when we lit them:
Taylor was anxious to see what we were doing with the flames. He kept pulling on Jon's leg and was really excited about the festivity:
Well, he was excited until Jon blew out all his candles, making a big cloud of smoke which scared the pee out of Taylor (literally) and sent him running! That was funny, too. :)

love the bike! I think Taylor is looking more and more like Jon every time I see his pictures.
Love the bike pics. Glad you got to do something fun on your birthday Jon. Love you, MOM
Oh that sounds like you guys had so much fun! The candles looked cool all lit - I agree.
Wow, Jon is only 25? :) When I turned 25 Craig told me I was a quarter of the way to 100...hahaha...
